National Family Caregiver Month Wrap-up

It has been a busy National Family Caregivers Month at DAHLIA Living! We hope you've enjoyed learning about our staff members and all that they do to care for our residents.

Throughout the month, we have featured some of our caregivers on our social media channels, given prizes to the winner of our 'I am a caregiver because..." contest, and event distributed gift bags to every employee to show our appreciation.

Featured Caregivers

Trail House - Grace N.

​Grace is a proactive person who always wants to do the best for our residents. She always tries to see things from a resident’s perspective, to treat them kindly and with compassion. She is especially grateful she has an empathetic boss who helps the staff whenever possible. When Grace isn’t working with our residents, she loves to cook healthy and hearty meals, take walks, and watch the Seahawks.

Trail House - Filfil

Filfil has been a DAHLIA employee for over 9 years! He admires Kiyomi's leadership and decision-making skills. He wants to thank her for what she has done for Trail House staff and clients over the years. Outside of work, Filfil likes to barbecue, do carpentry, and admire cars.

Trail House - Farshad

He enjoys working at Trail House because of the communication between staff and program coordinator Kiyomi. He believes that is key to bringing quality of care to our residents. Farshad wants to bring happiness to and take care of people. Trail House is the place for him to achieve those goals. Farshad loves dancing, making friends, and making people happy.

Trail House - Prosper

Prosper likes the Trail House team. He says Kiyomi is an amazing boss who is always available and willing to help staff solve problems. When he’s not at work with our residents, Prosper loves to exercise and cook healthy. He also loves fashion!

Trail House - Ronnie

For Ronnie, Trail House is like a family. He loves the interaction with residents. He always learns more skills when working with them. He also likes how flexible and supportive his supervisor is, helping him to build even more leadership skills outside work. Ronnie loves cooking and trying new dishes, but also has a love for civil engineering and architecture!

Halcyon - Loni

Loni has been with DAHLIA for many years and knows most of the residents very well! She is an excellent cook and keeps Halcyon spotless. She is dedicated to her job and loves to decorate for all of the holidays. Loni loves to make sure the residents are safe and happy. Outside of work, she loves to cook and find good deals. ​

Halcyon - Maricar

An outstanding employee, Maricar always works hard and often attends medical appointments with the Halcyon residents. As a med supervisor, she is knowledgeable about resident medications. Maricar loves taking care of the residents. She loves the color blue, and to eat Dungeness crab and veggie pizza.

Halcyon - Christine

Christine is compassionate and hardworking. The residents love interacting with her, and her calm personality helps them relax. Christine loves putting smiles on their faces and making their days better. Showing the residents empathy and compassion is how she shows she cares about them. Her favorite movie is Avengers: Endgame and her favorite sports team is the Seahawks.

Visions - Sarah M.

Sarah goes above and beyond for DAHLIA Living! She travels from Tacoma to Kirkland for her 6:30am shift - and never complains. She shows up everyday for the residents. Sarah is simply the best!

Visions - Simin

Simin has worked at DAHLIA since 2003! She always wants to do the best for our residents. Simin treats them with dignity and respect. Simin is amazing!

Visions - Grace M.

Grace is hardworking and always ready to learn new things. She is a creative thinker and always has a positive attitude. Grace is such a valuable member of the Visions team!

Visions - Nursing Team

Carisa, Lynda, Valentina, Levi, Sarah N, Anne, Nebiyou, Getachew, Senay, and our incredible nursing supervisor, Anne, go above and beyond to ensure the health and well-being of those in their care. The care this nursing team provides to our residents is as close to perfect as you can get! ​

Visions - Anne

If there is one word to describe Anne, it is selfless. She finds time to spend with each and every resident, to get to know them beyond their medical needs. This summer, she created Camp DAHLIA for the residents who were struggling with the continuing COVID lockdowns. She is also incredibly compassionate toward the needs of her nursing staff. We are so thankful for Anne! We know we are in good hands!

Champion House - Maxwell

Maxwell likes working with our residents because it always broadens his mind. He learns more about life, love, care, and humility everyday. On top of learning from them, Maxwell also cares deeply for the Champion House residents. Outside of work, he loves vanilla ice cream and parrots.

Champion House - Demba

Demba has been a committed caregiver at Champion House for many years. He loves helping people improve the quality of their lives. Demba believes you should always help, if you can. We may help someone else today, but they may help us tomorrow. Demba is a fan of the Seahawks and the Friday movies with Ice Cube!

Champion House - Beatrice

Beatrice has a passion for taking care of people, like our residents. She loves what she does. It makes her happy when she can brighten someone’s day. Beatrice also loves soccer and the color burgundy!

Champion House - Frank

If you’ve attended any of DAHLIA’s events, you’ve probably met Frank! He has worked with DAHLIA since Champion House opened its doors in 1983 - and he is just as committed as ever. He is always ready to help with a smile. Frank loves people! He likes taking our residents on outings and giving them the care they need. He also loves tie-dye and Monty Python & the Holy Grail!
