Many Hands Make Light Work

Working in the yard can be dreadful, painful, and exhausting but not when you have rockstar volunteers. Recently, Maddie and Jake tackled yard work with our director of operations, Eva Robinson, to spruce up Champion House for the summer. Warmer weather allows our residents to spend more time outside in the sunshine. Spending time outdoors is significantly beneficial for our residents' overall health.
Our volunteers spent the day mowing, trimming, clearing pinecones and debris from the paved sidewalks, edging, raking, etc. Our residents can now go for a stroll around their yard and experience fresh air. With all Champion House residents utilizing a power or wheelchair a clear sidewalk is appreciated for a smooth trip outside to obtain some Vitamin D.
Staff and residents are extremely grateful for the extra sets of hands to complete the front and back yard all in one day! Thank you to our volunteers for giving up one of their summer days to take care of Champion House.
Volunteer opportunities occur year round and vary from yard work, reading to the residents, setting up/taking down tables and chairs, etc. Our residents enjoy socializing and we appreciate any extra set of hands.
